Bore Gauge
The internal diameter of
cylinders are measured using a bore gauge.
A bore gauge consists of
-
A
cylindrical tube with three extended prongs.
-
Internally attached
to the cylinder and prongs is a micrometer head.
-
In order to measure
the internal diameter of a cylinder, a bore gauge is
inserted. The three prongs extend themselves and read
the mean diameter of the three points.
Bore gauges are available
in numerous sizes and can be read to 0.001 mm.
